If

what if tomorrow was never
what if dreams became lost
what if thoughts were clever
and it didn’t feel like the holocaust
what if the storm passed us over
what if structures remained intact
would we bless a four leaf clover
could there be a sacred pact

if i was stronger and wiser
does it make a difference
selfish like the miser
under stress running interference
pain in the wind
chaos of a another sort
we want to mend
and be allowed to retort

through the eye of a needle
the world is small
our being is strange
a fragment of the picture

pose the question
answers are clear
it’s all a matter of fact
and a simple case of if..

what if love was eternal
what if memories fade
what if time was perpetual
and we tasted the blade
what if innocence is a lie
what if evil truly reigns
would we want to die
or just ignore the signs

if i was angry and starved
would you throw me a line
my carcass was carved
thrown in tombs of hollow pine
it’s a matter of conscience
cerebral conflict relevant
a lack of social abstinence
this is what makes me hesitant

through the eye of a needle
the world is small
our being is strange
a fragment of the picture

pose the question
answers are clear
it’s all a matter of fact
and a simple case of if..

if i was on my knees
would you grant me a favor
just tell me please
if your my savior...
if..
if..
